Treasure Trails Our first event of the year is always the second weekend of February. Participants select one of ten different trails from information we provide. At 9AM on Saturday, everyone is given a set of clues to go on their treasure hunt. The clues are short rhymes or puzzles leading to the location of 400 little treasure chests. The objects in the clues are rock formations, trees, hillsides, piles of rock, hard mud... anything unusual or outstanding. A dead tree branch may be a dragon, a rock might be a turtle or a shark. Or, a root might be a serpent or a lightning bolt. The clues are easy enough that the kids often spot things before the adults in their group see it. This is not a race. The only challenge is in solving the puzzles and thus finding a hidden treasure chest. The chest is then turned in when found and a prize will be awarded on Sunday. Along the trails, you'll also want to be on the lookout for more objects worth cash prizes. For those who remain clueless by Saturday night, Trail Masters provide extra clues. On Friday and Saturday nights, everyone enjoys a live band and a dinner is served on site by a local restaurant for about $8.00. Saturday and Sunday mornings, a local Seniors group serves a hot breakfast for about $5.00 per plate. Sunday noon starts the prizes and awards. There are contests for the youngest and oldest on the trails, who came the greatest distance and who has attended the most Treasure Trails from 1966... There is even a contest for the Best Trash brought in to be judged (and later disposed of properly by us). It's a weekend of dirt play and prizes for the entire family. Printed clues for this event mean we have to limit registration for this event to 800. So, pre-registration is advised. Registration is $40.00 per entry. Add your name today to our mailing list so we can send you a flyer for our next event. |
Spooktacular Run This is our second event of the year and is always the last weekend of October. This event includes a poker run about 30-40 miles long. The cost is $10.00 per hand. It's a 50/50 split with Treasure Trails. Pre-registration to this event, speeds up the registration process so we encourage everyone to pre-register. The poker run is not a race. Be on the lookout for other objects along the well marked trail, worth cash and prizes. There are pumpkin coloring contests for kids 12 and under, a lively costume contest for all ages. The kids usually trick or treat the campsites. Then on Saturday night, the nearby wash transforms into a haunted wash at around dark thirty; when you'll want to drive your off highway vehicle past all the hauntings and ghosts and goblins. A live band entertains on Friday and Saturday nights and all Saturday meals are served on site by a local restaurant for about $8.00 per plate. Sunday 10 AM is the start of awards, trophies and prizes.... There will be at least 15 high and low hand winners in the poker game. A fun weekend for the entire family, on all types of off road vehicles. WIN CASH!!! If you have a good idea and would like to decorate a space in the wash for Spooktacular Run, we welcome and encourage your participation. Cash awards are given for the spookiest and most original spaces in the wash. First place will win $200. Second place will win $150 and third place will win $100. If you would like to decorate a space in the wash, please email us and return it by September 15, 2008. Please include your name, mailing address, phone number and email.
